I was first introduced to fishing with my pappy (dad's father) before I can remember. He had a pond on his farm that was stocked with catfish and blugill. I sharpened my skills everyday in that pond. As I got older my pappy got into fly fishing for trout below Dale Hollow (Obey river). It wasn't long after when he taught me how to fly fish at his pond. I never got to go trout fishing with him because he became ill and passed away when I was 15. My dad and I also fished together but he couldn't go as much because he worked a lot. But after my pappy died he took me fishing more often. I told my dad that I wanted to get into fishing for trout. I went trout fishing for the first time at the Duck river with my sunday school teacher. After that trip my dad and I would go to the Duck every week. My dad and I started going to the Caney the next summer (1995) and we went there until his death in 2000. He and I went many other places in Tennessee and in other states. I have been fly fishing for 10 years and have found Caney Fork to be my favorite but all of them have there specialties I can't resist.
